It is with great pleasure and a sense of pride that I present to you the 2023 GCC-Indonesia Annual Report, titled “Inspiring Global Responsibility: Progress and Achievement of GCC-Indonesia.” This report encapsulates our journey and the remarkable achievements of GCC-Indonesia in the realm of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) within the national education system.
GCC-Indonesia, an institution established by the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) under the esteemed patronage of the Asia Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), holds a paramount role in promoting GCED throughout Indonesia’s educational landscape. We operate in alignment with the approved proposal by APCEIU, and it is our core mission to facilitate and foster GCED within our nation’s educational framework.
This report offers an extensive overview of our progress, focusing on two vital program areas:
Program Area One: Institutional Development. In our pursuit of solidifying GCC-Indonesia’s foundations, we have achieved significant milestones, as envisioned in the approved proposal by APCEIU. These include establishing GCC-Indonesia at UPI, forging strategic partnerships and networks with a diverse array of educational institutions, developing innovative GCED training materials, launching a user-friendly digital platform for GCED resource accessibility, successfully conducting a series of enlightening GCED webinars, and engaging in impactful research and development efforts to bring innovation to the field of GCED.
Program Area Two: Capacity Building of GCC Personnel, Teachers, and Lecturers through Training of Trainers of GCED Our commitment to enhancing the capabilities of GCC personnel, teachers, and lecturers has borne fruit, as outlined in the APCEIU-approved proposal. This encompasses the successful implementation of the Training of Trainers of GCED program and the initiation of pilot programs in schools and universities across Indonesia.
This report serves as a testament to our collective endeavors and highlights the positive influence we have had in fostering a deeper understanding and heightened awareness of global responsibility among educators and students nationwide. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Asia Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) for their unwavering technical and financial support to GCC-Indonesia. Their partnership has been instrumental in our journey to inspire global responsibility in Indonesia. With the resounding spirit of “Inspiring Global Responsibility,” GCC-Indonesia remains steadfast in our commitment to collaborate with all stakeholders who share our vision. Together, we aim to prepare a generation that is not only well-equipped to confront global challenges but also imbued with a profound sense of understanding and responsibility. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our shared mission.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dasim Budimansyah, M.Si. Director, GCC-Indonesia

2024 has been an incredible year of growth and impact for GCC-Indonesia. With an unwavering commitment to promoting Global Citizenship Education (GCED), we have expanded our reach, forged strategic partnerships, and empowered thousands of students, educators, and community members across Indonesia.
This year, we took significant strides in strengthening the foundation of GCED in Indonesian education. Through our collaboration with key institutions such as the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO (KNIU), the Education Office of Cirebon City, and the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP RI), we have successfully developed model schools that embody the essence of global citizenship, tolerance, and cultural diversity. These initiatives have not only enriched the lives of students and educators but have also set an example for the nation in how education can be a force for positive change.
One of the highlights of 2024 was our collaboration with ReelOzInd! For the first time, GCC- Indonesia participated in this prestigious Australia-Indonesia short film festival, which focused on the theme “Diversity.” To promote GCED through visual arts, we submitted a short film titled “Hunger,” produced in partnership with the Department of Film and Television, Faculty of Arts and Design, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Although “Hunger” did not claim the top prize, this journey marked a significant milestone for us. GCC-Indonesia proudly hosted the Pop-Up Film Festival Screening of ReelOzInd 2024 on October 25, 2024, at the UPI campus. It was an honor to see the UPI campus become a hub of creativity and diversity, bringing together filmmakers and audiences from various backgrounds.
The Pop-Up Festival was not just a film screening; it provided a platform for discussion and sharing perspectives on the theme of “Diversity” and how film can be a powerful medium for conveying GCED messages. This collaboration marked a brilliant start for GCC-Indonesia in embracing the creativity of young people and inviting them to become part of the global dialogue on diversity.
Our capacity-building efforts have also reached new heights, with the launch of innovative courses on our MOOCs platform, moocs-gccindonesia.id. We organized impactful hybrid training sessions, bringing educators from across the archipelago together to learn, share, and innovate. These initiatives reflect our dedication to equipping educators with the skills they need to instill global values in the next generation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dasim Budimansyah, M.Si. Director, GCC-Indonesia

The year 2025 marks a pivotal chapter in the journey of GCC Indonesia a year in which our steps became more assured, our reach expanded significantly, and our impact grew ever more tangible. Amidst the complexities of an increasingly dynamic global landscape, we remain firmly committed to advancing Global Citizenship Education (GCED) an approach that is not only globally relevant but also deeply rooted in the values of Pancasila and the local wisdom of the Indonesian people.
Through six key clusters of activity ranging from the development of Model School Programs, online training for educators, enrichment of printed and digital learning resources, research and scholarly publications, social media campaigns, to the strengthening of international networks we continue to build an ecosystem of education that empowers teachers, students, and learning communities to become critical, collaborative, and character-driven global citizens.
The accomplishments achieved in 2025 did not arise in isolation. Behind every milestone lies the hard work and dedication of many: the educators who engaged in training and implemented GCED values in their classrooms; the students who brought global citizenship projects to life in their schools; the national and international partners who opened new avenues of collaboration; and the GCC Indonesia team that consistently safeguarded the quality and sustainability of every program. From Bandung, Yogyakarta, to Pontianak; from virtual classrooms at moocs-gccindonesia. id to international forums in Seoul each link has become an integral part of a chain that mutually reinforces and complements one another.
I firmly believe that Global Citizenship Education is a long-term investment of immense value for the future of both the nation and the world. In an era of rapid transformation, education that cultivates global awareness, respects diversity, and nurtures social responsibility serves as a cornerstone for building societies that are inclusive, just, and sustainable.
On this occasion, I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to all who have been part of this journey teachers, school principals, facilitators, academics, partner organizations, and leaders who have continuously provided their support. May this report not only stand as a record of achievements but also serve as a source of inspiration to keep moving forward together. With the spirit of innovation and collaboration, let us embrace the years ahead with the conviction that every small step taken in classrooms, communities, and global networks constitutes a real contribution to the realization of a better world.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dasim Budimansyah, M.Si. Director, GCC-Indonesia
